How to Apply
Boat owners who would like improvements made to the facilities they regularly use should approach their local council which has the expertise to prepare a detailed funding assistance application.
Application Stages
Applicants need to determine whether they are submitting a Stage 1 or Stage 2 application.
Stage 1 - Preliminary appraisal and endorsement of concept
Stage 1 submission is required if the project estimate is over $1.0m and if it is a high cost and high risk project.
Stage 2 - Application for funding
If the proposal is low cost and low risk applicants may opt to submit a Stage 2 proposal only.
Once a Stage 1 application is endorsed it will need to be resubmitted with further details as a Stage 2 application.

The funding process
Once an application form has been received, the following process occurs:
Screening
The application is screened to ensure all questions re answered and important documents attached, the applicant and project meets the eligibility criteria.
Assessment
The application is referred to the South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee (SABFAC) for assessment and funding assistance recommendations.
SABFAC consists of a maximum of eight members of whom one must be nominated by the:
Recommendation
The Committee makes recommendations in terms of the assessment criteria, these recommendations are forwarded to the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure for consideration.
Only the Minister can approve funding assistance applications.
Notification
Once the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport has considered an application, the applicant is notified in writing of the outcome.
